In April 2009, it was announced that Girls Aloud were taking a years break from the group to pursue solo careers and projects.
Nadine had already opened her Irish themed bar in LA on St Patrick’s day. Its also rumoured but not officially confirmed that she has a mexican restaurant, another pub and a few properties in the US. Nadine says “I’m writing songs and it’s a slightly different style from Girls Aloud, so I’m going to do that, writing stuff after Girls Aloud,” she has admitted. “I have loads of material but it’s just about the timing and getting the right songs.” About her properties and bars she says “I like buying houses and decorating them and selling them off,” she explained. “With the profit I make I buy bars. The ultimate business plan is to open a chain of Irish bars. Americans are screaming out for them.”
In July, news came out that Nadine was generating a lot of buzz with a lot of companies wanting to sign her. She confirmed on an irish chat show, she signed up with EMI.
In August, it was rumoured Nadine had recorded a disco song penned by Paula Abdul, who co-wrote Spinning Around, the track that relaunched Kylie Minogue.
In September, Nadine caused split rumours as it came out she was cutting herself off from the rest of Girls Aloud. It was pretty much proven false when they performed for 2 days supporting Coldplay at Wembley Stadium. The girls looked and sounded as great as ever together on stage.
We also learnt Nadine will feature on Jay Sean’s album in late November. In January 2009, Jay Sean confirmed he was working with Nadine, in an interview.
In October, news came out that Nadine wanted Madonna’s PR team to help her launch her solo career. She wants her solo career totally separate from the Girls Aloud work, which explains why she went to a different label.
A demo track of Boyz II Men feat Nadine ‘Back For Good’, that would be on their covers album, was leaked onto the internet causing many rumours of the song to be a single. Nadine later dismissed the track on her Twitter page as just a rough demo and nothing more. She was removed from the tracks name on various sites that are listing the album. It was rumoured she would not be on the album due to her management wanting her own solo album out first before she released any duets with others.
The Official Girls Aloud website sent out an email for fans to update them on what each girl is currently up to. They informed us Nadine has been working with big name producers for her solo career like, Mike Elizondo (Maroon 5, Carrie Underwood), Toby Gadd (Beyoncé, Fergie), Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams) and Tony Kanal from No Doubt (Gwen Stefani, P!nk).
We also learnt she is to release her first single in March 2010.
Nadine shot a photograph book in New York with Tim Hailand. The book will be called ‘One Day in the Life of Nadine Coyle’ and all sales will go to an Aids charity.
Nadine’s bookings are handled globally by Solomon Parker and John Marx at the William Morris Endeavor Agency. She’s with Monster Management corp, a division of Bruce Garfield Entertainment.
